Ein Porträt machen zu lassen, kann eine beunruhigende Angelegenheit sein. Du gehst in ein Studio, sitzt auf einem Stuhl zwischen Scheinwerfern und Blitzgeräten. Schlimmer noch: Du musst lächeln oder auch nicht, in der Hoffnung, dass es Deinen Erwartungen entspricht. Egal wie gut der Fotograf ist, sieht man dennoch, dass das Foto unter künstlichen Bedingungen gemacht wurde und Du Dich dabei nicht wohl gefühlt hast.
Ich habe einen anderen Ansatz. Ich komme zu Dir, zu dem Ort, wo Du fotografiert werden möchtest. Ich benutze das vorhandene Licht. Ich habe keine große Ausrüstung dabei, weder große Lampen noch Blitzgeräte. Es gibt lediglich Dich, mich und meinen Fotoapparat. Du sitzt in einer Umgebung, sei es z.B. in Deinem Lieblingssessel, im Garten, auf der Arbeit oder im Park, die Dir hilft, Dich glücklich und entspannt zu machen. Ich kann Dich dann porträtieren, wohlwissend dass Dein Lächeln echt ist.

Worse, you have to smile (or not) and hope that everything turns out as you expected. Regardless of how good the photographer is, you can usually see that the picture has been taken under artificial conditions and you, the subject, was not quite at ease.
I take a different approach. I come to you or to wherever you want to have your picture taken. I rely on the light that is currently available. No fancy gear, no big lights or flashes, just you me and a camera. You get to sit in an environment that makes you happy and helps you to relax - be it, for example, your favourite armchair, the garden, at work or in a park and I can take your picture knowing that your smile is genuine.
